Hillcrest Academy has been approved by the International Baccalaureate Organization as a candidate school* for the IB Middle Years Programme. Congratulations to Hillcrest! Our school can now officially begin the process of pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy – a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that HillcrestAcademybelieves is important for our students.
Hillcrest’s Assistant Head of School El Sablan will be taking the lead as the school’s MYP Coordinator. Hillcrest will be assigned an IB consultant from the IBO who will provide continued support throughout the candidacy phase. In addition, Hillcrest’s teachers will now have access to the online curriculum center and have the opportunity to participate with IB practitioners worldwide in online forums.
“The Board of Trustees and I are extremely excited about this important step for our school, and look forward to engaging the entire community in the process as we pursue IB authorization,” says Hillcrest Head of School Mark Campaigne. If authorized as an IB World School, Hillcrest would be the first school in RiversideCountywith that distinction for the Middle Years Programme.
